Scott Harrison

Cultural lifesaving officer of Surf Life Saving QLD

In the past ten years, Scott has developed strategic and operational plans that map out the water safety programs roll out around Queensland Schools and other communities. These programs aim to enrich community life, promote community safety, and strengthen social and neighbourhood connections. Scott has worked closely with community groups, not-for-profit organisations, government stakeholders and individual members of the public to achieve these objectives.

Through award winning programs Little Life Savers, On the Same Wave, Beach Safe, Beach 2 Bush and Gold Coast Airport Welcoming Service, Scott has delivered over 3000 water safety classroom based presentations and beach excursion programs to multicultural, Indigenous, school, regional and community groups with a reach of over 1.2 million. He has delivered holiday programs with City of Gold Coast as part of their Get Active, Get Healthy initiative and established a program model that is recognised nationally as a best practice program in its field. In 2017 he was recognised to be part of the Queensland Government Inaugural Multicultural Ambassadors Program, and in 2018 he led beach activation and beach presentation for the recent 2018 royal visit at Broadbeach.
