Kon Karapanagiotidis OAM
CEO and Founder, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre
Known for his ability to inspire people to create a movement, Karapanagiotidis has spent the last 22 years running his Melbourne-based refugee support centre. The son of Greek migrants, Karapanagiotidis has obtained six tertiary degrees in the fields of law, social work, behavioural sciences, development studies and education. While he is vocal about many causes, Karapanagiotidis’ main passion has remained the rights of asylum seekers.
His organisation, the ASRC, took just eight weeks to establish with the help of TAFE students he was teaching at the time. It is now the largest asylum seeker organisation in Australia.
