2015 Winner
Joshua
Gilbert
Joshua Gilbert
Chair, NSW Young Farmers
Gilbert is a rare breed. From a family of cattle farmers on the NSW coast, he has devoted his time and energy towards tackling climate change. His efforts caught the attention of former US Vice President Al Gore, who invited him to be a part of his Climate Reality Project.
His message also took him to Paris, where he attended the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference. For Gilbert, rhetoric around climate change is a luxury he can’t afford. A Worimi Man, his ancestors have been connected with the land he farms on for 40,000 years and he has said he can see the effect global warming is having.
“Joshua is one of those rarest of individuals – an unstoppable powerhouse and a force of nature.”
